Remove contact paper and paint the inside of kitchen cupboardsEmail question: Hello, Hello, Email reply: Hi Krista Remove the old contact paper adhesive with orange oilI would suggest removing all the old contact paper. Orange oil should remove most of the adhesive left behind. Pour some orange oil in a bowl and use a paint brush to apply it liberally to the insides of the cupboards where the adhesive is and let it sit for about 10 to 30 minutes. Keep testing to see if the adhesive has started to liquefy. Wipe the insides of the cupboards clean with paper towels. Dispose of the paper towels in a metal covered container or a bucket of water to protect against spontaneous combustion. You may have to repeat the process two or three times to get all or most of the glue removed. Use liquid deglosser to remove the balance of adhesiveNext go over the whole insides with liquid deglosser about one third of the way down the page at the above link. The liquid deglosser should clean up any left over adhesive and will treat the surface the same as sanding to prepare it for paint. Apply the liquid deglosser the same way as the orange oil. Use good ventilation, eye and skin protection while you're using any chemical products. Be sure to read all label information. Zinsser Bullseye Seal Coat is a good primerThere is a product called Zinsser Bullseye Seal Coat which will stick to just about anything. If there is any adhesive residue left the Seal Coat should stick to it and make it possible for paint to stick when applied over the Seal Coat. You can use several coats of Seal Coat to smooth out the insides of your cupboards. Apply paint to inside of kitchen cupboardsApply any type of paint over the top of the Seal Coat. A couple of coats of paint on the inside of your kitchen cupboards should give you a good durable finish that should last a long time and look really nice.
