reply: Reactivate paint stripper
Hi Terry Don't overbrush the stripperMost paint strippers have a small amount of wax that comes to the surface to help the stripper to stay active longer. If you overbrush the paint remover you could break the wax coat and possibly remove it completely, so the stripper would be less effective. Apply the stripper with a good brushfull and don't brush back over it. You might try applying the paint stripper, then covering it with plastic, like a plastic drop cloth. That will give the stripper more working time. Ctiristrip paint stripper is environmentally safe
Your paint stripper has methylene chloride that is the main paint remover and is the ingredient that dries pretty fast, does the softening and has the big smell. You might try one of the new strippers without methylene chloride. There is one called Citristrip paint stripper on our catalog page that has a long open time, does a good job and smells good too.
