20 Year Old Whiplash Injury
I met Dr Auseré, Chiropractor, several months ago when he was checking backs at a senior health fair. His equipment showed that there was activity in my neck and back that needed further checking. He didn't know at the time that I had a whiplash injury about 20 years earlier and although I had physical therapy for several weeks after the injury, for the past 20 years I had pain, from a tweak to pretty darn ouchy almost all of the time in my lower neck and left shoulder.
After the first few treatments by the chiropractor the pain started going away and has returned very rarely since.
And Then The Piano
The real kicker happened today though. I'll have to back up about 15 years to get to the nitty gritty.
Early one morning I wanted to start refinishing a big old upright piano and I didn't want to wait for someone else to get to work to help me tip the piano on it's back, so I did it by myself with just a hand truck. Don't ever try this at home. During the process there was a terriffic grinding sensation in my right knee with pain to match.
It took about three years of pretty constant pain before my knee healed enough that I could kneel on my right knee. It didn't give me too much problem since then, except for times that I would do some sort of unwise activity.
Top It Off With The Pipe Wrench
A few days ago while doing some plumbing, instead of using a cheater when a pipe wouldn't break loose, I put a foot on the pipe wrench and wrenched, man did I ever wrench. My knee gave a grinding sensation and it hurt every bit as bad as the original injury. It was so painful that while going through the plumbing store a couple of days later I couldn't get my foot off the floor and did the old duffers shuffle through the store. I figured I was in for another three year stint of hobbling around.
Ahh, Blessed Relief
Today, when I went in for my regular chiropractic treatment I told Dr Auseré about my knee and he said that he fixes knees too.
When he started treating my knee I braced for a jolt of pain, there wasn't any. He did three adjustments to my knee with no pain, then I stood up very gingerly expecting pain of some sort, but there wasn't any. The excruciating pain was gone and there is just some residual muscle ache from several days of walking funny and normal pain of a healing injury site.
If you have any old injuries and pain and if you're lucky enough to live near Moses Lake WA, I would suggest you see Dr Auseré at Basin Family Chiropractic, but if you don't live near here, see a chiropractor in your own neck of the woods.
My wife, my daughter and seven year old granddaughter all enjoy the benefits and friendship of Dr Auseré too.
The People
The pictures below aren't the best, they were taken from a newspaper insert from a while back.
The treatment actually starts as soon as you walk in the door of the Chiropractic Clinic.
Rebekah is the first one that you see and she is always effervescent with a happy greeting and conversation for everyone and watches over her patient family like a mother hen, calling if you're not there when you're supposed to be and she remembers everyones name and their conversational interests.
Shari is in the back office with the facts and figures, but manages to peek around the corner of the doorway to say hi.
Then you get to Dr Auseré who is every bit as friendly as he is good at his profession. Overall the treatment is positive psychologically as well as physical. A very good experience.
