A do it yourselfer asked about pre woven cane or rattan to apply to cabinet doors on an entertainment center. Pre woven cane has been used for decorative purposes as well as utility for a couple of centuries at least.

Pre woven cane for cabinet doors

Question: I'm planning on building doors for an existing entertainment center. I would like to attach a cane wicker rattan covering to the front of the cabinet doors.

Where can I purchase a "roll" or sheet of pre woven cane wicker to then apply to the front of the doors. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.

The pre woven cane gives a real nice appearance when it's used for decorative purposes.

You can stain after you attach the cane and it will give a good contrast with similar color tones. The cane doesn't absorb as much stain as the wood does so it's lighter.

If you stain the wood first and attach the cane without any stain the natural cane color is good too. Natural cane goes good with just about any color, material, fabric or texture that there is.

Stain woven cane before applying to cabinet door

If you plan to stain the woven cane a different color than the wood you'll apply it to it's best to stain the woven cane before applying it to the cabinet door.
