Repaint kitchen cabinetsquestion.....I realize you may not be able to reply to this before I have to get started, but I bought a house and decided to repaint the kitchen cabinets. I went ahead and sanded off the old finish. I read your article and see that I could have just degreased and deglossedreply.....You'll need to prime your kitchen cabinets first, otherwise the semi-gloss latex will probably soak in more in some places than others and you could end up having to apply several extra coats of semi-gloss paint. To prime your kitchen cupboards any primer with a base of the type of final coat paint on your kitchen cabinets will work good. Sand your kitchen cupboards lightly with 180 grit sandpaper after the primer coat to get a good smooth surface for the final coat. Be sure to use a primer paint with the same base as your final coat paint. For example water base primer for water base paint. Oil base primer for oil base paint. Kilz primer Good luck repainting your kitchen cabinets.
